Oluremi Tinubu, first lady, on Friday led a delegation on a condolence visit to Aisha Buhari, former first lady, at her Kaduna residence following the death of former president Muhammadu Buhari.

Tinubu was accompanied by the wives of national assembly members and several state governors. The two women exchanged an emotional embrace, reflecting mutual respect and friendship.

Speaking during the visit, Tinubu said: “We have come here today to stand with you and your family in this time of grief. President Buhari served this nation with dedication, and his legacy will endure in the hearts of Nigerians. We pray that God grants you strength and peace.”

Those present included Nana Shettima, wife of the vice-president; Fatima Tajudeen Abbas, wife of the speaker of the house of representatives; Olufolake Abdulrasaq, wife of the Kwara state governor; and Hafsat Uba Sanni, wife of the Kaduna state governor.

Responding, Aisha Buhari expressed appreciation for the show of support.

“This visit means a lot to my family and me. It is comforting to know that we are not alone in this moment of loss. Your prayers and words of encouragement give us strength,” she said.

Busola Kukoyi, senior special assistant on media to the first lady, said the visit underscored the unity and compassion among Nigeria’s leaders and their spouses.

She added that the first lady had earlier visited the Daura home of the late former president on July 19, accompanied by governors’ wives, ministers’ spouses, and spouses of service chiefs.
