Petrol station supervisor, attendant, 4 others held for robbery

A Petrol Station Supervisor, a pump attendant and four others have been arrested for masterminding a robbery operation at Skepter Petrol Filling Station at Igbo-Elerin Bus-Stop along Lagos-Badagry Expressway.
The suspects Obinna Ofoma, 25 years; Ndukwa Junior, 22 years; William Okon, 22 years; Tony Oluchukwu, 28 years; Charles Mike, 20 years and Freedom Daniel, 20 years had stormed the Petrol Station on October 8th, 2018, dispossessing customers and attendants of large sums, phones and other valuables.
Although the suspects had made away with their loots before the arrival of operatives from the Lagos State Police Command and Federal Special Anti-Robbery Operatives, they were however trailed and arrested at their hideout.
Briefing journalists on how the suspects were arrested, the Lagos Police Commissioner, CP Imohimi Edgal said, “ Information was received from a credible source that some armed men were sighted at Skepter Petrol Station situated at Igbo-Elerin Bus-Stop, Ojo area of Lagos robbing fuel attendants and their customers.
On receipt of the information operatives from Ilemba Hausa Police Station and FSARS Ikeja jointly mobilized to the scene.
“Unfortunately, before the team could arrive, the hoodlums who sensed danger disappeared. However, later in the night, the robbers were arrested from where they were hiding and their arms comprising; two toy guns, three knives and one axe were recovered. During interrogation
“It was revealed that the supervisor of the Petrol Station, one Daniel and his fuel attendant, Mike were the master minds of the robbery operation at the Filling State. The suspects confessed that they specialized in robbing Petrol Station around Igando and Ilemba Hausa axis of Lagos State.”
Edgal said investigation is ongoing with a view to arresting other members of the gang currently at large for prosecution.
Similarly, the command said it had arrested three suspects- Ezekiel Andrew, 29 years; Sikiru Tajudeen, 20 years and Ibrahim Kazeem 30 years for using a Volkswagen Buses (DANFO), painted in Lagos commercial colour to rob unsuspecting commuters.
It was gathered that the suspects who were arrested October 30th, 2019 at about 4 am, often operated along Surulere area and claimed to make at least N300, 000 daily.
Edgal who also spoke on the arrest of the suspects said a source had revealed to the Command that the suspects were robbing passengers who innocently board their vehicles.
“Based on the information, operatives of the FSARS Ikeja were drafted to the area to locate and arrest the felons.
The presence of the operatives emboldened some passengers already held hostage as they raised the alarm which attracted the operatives.
“They were given a hot chase in the process, their operational Volkswagen buses with registration number APP 416 XX and SMK 367 XR were intercepted while three of the robbers were arrested and the passengers rescued.”
The State Police Chief also said investigation is ongoing and the suspects will be charged to court.
