Persecution and Threats Against Mr. Michael David

Mr. Michael David, a devout Christian,Pastor and Evangelist who is a resident of 5B Ali Akilu Street, Kaduna State, has faced relentless persecution for his evangelical activities. As a committed preacher of the Gospel, he regularly engaged in evangelism despite knowing the risks associated with openly practicing Christianity in a predominantly Muslim region.

In the weeks leading up to the attack, Mr. David received multiple threats warning him to stop his evangelical mission. On May 5, 2023, he received a chilling phone call from an unknown number, explicitly warning him against preaching in the area. Undeterred, he continued his religious duties, placing his faith above fear.

On the morning of May 11, 2023, around 7:00 AM, Mr. David was ambushed by a violent mob alleged to be religious extremists and street miscreants. He was brutally beaten, stabbed multiple times, and left for dead by the roadside. His survival was nothing short of miraculous, as good Samaritans intervened and rushed him to the General Hospital, where he was placed under emergency care.

While recovering in the hospital, Mr. David was devastated by the extent of his injuries, stating that he could barely recognize himself in the mirror. However, his trauma deepened when he learned that law enforcement officers who visited the scene made no arrests, as the perpetrators had already fled.

Realizing that his life was in immediate and continuous danger, Mr. David made the painful decision to flee Kaduna. In July 2023, he relocated to Ikotun-Egan, Lagos State, in hopes of finding refuge and rebuilding his life.

Unfortunately, his hopes for safety were short-lived. On July 24, 2023, he began noticing suspicious movements around his apartment. Unknown individuals were seen lurking in his vicinity, making inquiries about him. Alarmed that his attackers had tracked him down, he swiftly reported the matter to the Nigerian Police Divisional Headquarters, Area F, Ikeja.

Although an investigation was launched, the uncertainty surrounding his safety continued to escalate. Fearing for his life and seeing no end to the threats, Mr. David was once again forced to go into hiding.

Mr. Michael David remains in grave danger, as his attackers appear to be relentless in their pursuit to silence him. Given the consistent pattern of targeted threats and physical attacks, it is evident that he is a victim of religious persecution
