The Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) has reaffirmed the Hon. Nname Robinson Ewor-led Executive to oversee the affairs of the Rivers State Chapter of the party.

This according to the National Publicity Secretary of the party, Hon. Debo Ologunagba, is in compliance with the judgment of the Rivers State High Court and pursuant to the provisions of the Constitution of the PDP (as amended in 2017).

Ologunagba on Friday in a statement said the PDP “restates its obedience to the judgment of the Rivers State High Court so as to avoid a repeat of the painful scenario in Plateau State where the Party lost many seats won in the National Assembly and the Plateau State House of Assembly in the 2023 general elections as a result of non-compliance with a 2020 Court Judgment against the PDP Congresses which produced the then Party Executives in Plateau State.

“The PDP notes that it has no option than to abide by the judgement of the Rivers State High Court, which in Suit No. PHC/2301/CS/2024, nullified the Ward, Local Government and State Congresses of our Party in Rivers State conducted on July 27, August 10 and August 31, 2024 respectively, given that the judgement not been appealed, set aside or stayed by any Court of competent jurisdiction.”

The party commended the leaders, critical stakeholders, members and supporters of PDP in Rivers State for working with the Hon. Nname Robinson Ewor-led State Executive to ensure the stability and continuous success of the party in the state.

The national leadership again charged the Ewor-led Rivers State Executive to continue to work harmoniously with the leader of the PDP in Rivers State, His Excellency, Governor Similanayi Fubara as he intensifies efforts in his massive delivery of good governance to the people of Rivers State in line with the manifesto and policy thrust of the PDP.

In another development, the party commiserated with the Governor of Oyo State, His Excellency, Engr. Seyi Makinde over the death of his elder brother, Engr. Sunday Makinde.

The party described the late Makinde sis a great Nigerian saying the nation and particularly Oyo State have lost a rare gem.

A statement Friday by Ologunagba said Engr. Sunday Makinde was a humble, exceptionally brilliant and highly ingenious professional; a committed patriot who dedicated his life towards the progress and development of Oyo State and Nigeria.

“Engr. Sunday Makinde was a courageous and forthright gentleman, full of vision, realistic ideas, practical solutions and lived as a dependable pillar of support and counsellor to his brother, Governor Seyi Makinde in his service to the people of Oyo State and our dear fatherland.

“It is indeed devastating that Engr. Sunday Makinde left the stage at this trying time in the history of our nation when his skills and wealth of experience are needed the most.

“Our prayers and thoughts go out to Governor Seyi Makinde, the widow of Engr. Sunday Makinde, the entire Makinde family as well as the Government and people of Oyo State at this moment of grief especially knowing what it means to lose a dearly beloved brother, husband, father and illustrious son like Engr. Sunday Makinde,” the statement read.

The PDP prayed to the Almighty God to grant peaceful repose to Engr. Sunday Makinde’s soul and fortitude to Governor Seyi Makinde and the entire Makinde family to bear this irreparable loss.
