PDP loyalists of Zamfara MP angry over assault on lawmaker, threaten defection
Worried by the recent violent attack on the member of the Zamfara House of Assembly by some aggrieved people in Dansadau, many of his loyalists have concluded that they will leave the ruling PDP for another one where their dignity will be protected.
They also expressed their regret over their earlier resolve to go for PDP, describing the Party as destructive which only made people suffer without care.
Speaking to our correspondent in Gusau, the Zamfara State capital, one of the loyalists to the assaulted member, Alhaji Sadauki Madugu explained that what worried them much was the “I don’t care’ attitude exhibited by the governor in whose presence the attack happened and kept quiet without taking any action.
According to him, it was disheartening that a parliament member was assaulted in the presence of governor and allowed the culprits to go free without taking any measure.
“I am not alone, we are many in number who were, and still not happy of what happened to our member. If you look at it, you will find that the insult was not only at him but the entire constituency, whether one is for PDP, APC or any other political party, so long as you are from the area you are also affected”, he added.
He also disclosed that as far as they are concerned, PDP is not the type of party one should join, particularly that of Zamfara, where only few individuals are recognized. “You can see that today in Zamfara, if you are not from Kano, Katsina or Kaduna, you will only be an onlooker, because people from these places are more recognized than those who are the bona fide ones, and everybody can testify to this fact”.
Speaking further, Sadauki stated that the administration of Zamfara is completely in the hands of strangers, “and that is why we are having problems here and there, because our people have been marginalized in all ramifications, none of them is in charge”.
Madugu, who spoke on behalf of hundreds of other concerned loyalists, said they are making all the necessary arrangement toward finding a solution to the problem.
Commenting also, Madugu who once served as chairman Yarima Solidarity in 2003 to 2007,narrated that it is now he finally agreed that PDP is a disaster, “how a member will be assaulted in front of the governor and nothing was done, and another painful issue was the unceremonious disappearance of the governor just few hours after the episode,” he quipped.
