Majority of the sitting governors of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) have won the party’s governorship primaries conducted across the country on Sunday.
Among them are Governors Okezie Ikpeazu (Abia); Udom Emmanuel (Akwa Ibom); Ifeanyi Okowa (Delta); David Umahi (Ebonyi); Ifeanyi Ugwuanyi (Enugu); Nyesom Wike, (Rivers); Ben Ayade (Cross River); Darius Ishaku (Taraba) and Samuel Ortom (Benue).
New candidates that emerged from their respective states primaries include Hon. Ladi Adebutu, Ogun; Senator Bala Muhammed, Bauchi; Senator Jeremiah Useni, Plateau; Engr. Seyi Makinde, Oyo; Umaru Nadko, Niger; Davematic Ombugadu, Nasarawa; Hon. Issa Hashiru Kudan, Kaduna and Rt. Hon Matawali, Zamfara.
But the Lagos State PDP has postponed its primary indefinitely, ostensibly to cash in on the fallout from the APC primary shifted to today between Governor Akinwunmi Ambode and his main challenger, Babajide Sanwo-Olu while there was a parallel primary in Borno State.
