PDP faults George, Adeniran on planned imposition of candidates …says Anambra election was lost due to party divisions.

The Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) has faulted the utterances from two of its national chairmanship aspirants, alleging plans by the party’s leadership to impose a candidate on them.
Chief Bode George and Prof Tunde Adeniran, who are also chairmanship aspirants, in two separate occasions, petitioned the party’s leadership, accusing them of working for the interest of some candidates.
Adeniran equivocally accused the National Caretaker Committee (NCC) led by Senator Ahmed Makarfi of planting members loyal to one of the aspirants, Prince Uche Secundus as members of the convention committee, thereby giving him an undue advantage that will make him emerge with overwhelming margin.
But in a press conference on Wednesday in the party’s national headquarters, the parry’s National Publicity Secretary, Prince Dayo Adeyeye debunked the allegations, saying that the party is doing all within its powers to create a level playing ground for all the aspirants.
He said, “We wish to state that Chief Bode George’s assertions were wild and not specific.
“However, Prof. Adeniran’s letter specifically mentioned 5 names out of about 216 names. While assuring him that we shall pay special attention to the places they were posted to, but we did not and could not interview the members to know their linings before calling on them to serve.
“It is most likely that some of the remaining 211 members are aligned to some other persons seeking elective offices including himself and Chief Bode George.
“It pains us that on the one hand, Chief Bode George who is duly aware of the pains we are still going through in Lagos in order to fairly and equitably carry everybody on board to the extent that we are being accused by other as siding with him is the same person accusing us of impunity,” Adeyeye said with regrets.
According to him, every zone may micro-zone or come up with a consensus candidate and when it fails, all will be subjected to direct primary.
“We however recognise that both North and South may politically micro zone positions to geopolitical zones of the states.
“The North micro-zoned and other zones are micro-zoning without recourse to PDP Headquarters.
“We also understand that the South of recent is doing so but up to now have not been able to reach agreement on Chairmanship and Deputy Chairman. If this is not sorted out before the convention, it means the matter can only be settled at the convention.”
The party’s mouth piece acknowledged that the build up to the Anambra election was full of imperfections, adding that putting the PDP in Anambra State under the umbrella has remained elusive.
“Irrespective of the perfections or imperfections of our party primaries and the outcome, PDP Anambra had developed conflicting mindset. We did our best to bring all under one caretaker committee, hoping that things will work out well,” Adeyeye stated.
The party promised to do everything possible to attend to everybody’s needs and ensure there is level playing ground for the December 9th convention.
