PDP Crisis: Ex- Spokesman wants Damagum to vacate seat for North Central

By Tunde Opalana
The immediate past National Publicity Secretary of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), Mr. Kola Ologbindiyan has again called on the acting national chairman of the party, Ambassador Ilya Damagum to vacate the chairmanship seat which he occupies “illegally”.
Ologbondiyan at various fora in recent past canvassed for the occupation of the office of PDP national chairman by someone from the North Central geopolitical zone rather than Damagum who is from the North East.
The party chieftain on Tuesday featured on Arise TV’s Morning Show, where he alleged that by illegally holding on to the chairmanship seat, Damagum and a few others are playing out a script by a third force to render the PDP ineffective through unending crisis.
He emphatically said for peace to return to the National Working Committee (NWC) national chairmanship position under the current NWC must return to the North Central.

Ologbondiyan said , “Like a proverb said, if there is no spilt on the wall, the lizard can’t come in, so definitely there will be issues in the party, but how much these issues are managed is one side, and how external influences come into them to finally disrupt and reduce the party to nothing else is also there.
“There are issues in the party. In the case of the National Chairman, the Northcentral believes that the position should return to them. Damagum is from the Northeast, and he is occupying that position.
“No matter how long he continues to stay there, Damagum is staying there illegitimately. It’s an issue in the party.”
