PDP Commences massive protest in Abuja against police siege on Ekiti

All national, states, local government and ward leaders of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) last night converged on Abuja Nigeria’s capital city and are about now commencing a massive protest over the siege by the Nigerian Police on Ekiti State government house Wednesday.
According to a PDP source who spoke to Daily Times exclusively on phone, the protest march will begin from the party’s presidential campaign office otherwise known as Legacy House located at along Shehu Shagari way Maitama Abuja to the National Assembly Complex, Three Arms Zone, Central Business District.
It would be recalled that Police yesterday took over Ekiti State Government House and prevented the Governor and the PDP from holding in Ado Ekiti, the state capital.
“Our party is about to begin a massive protest march against the impunity of the All Progressives Congress (APC) led Federal Government which yesterday used the Nigeria Police to lay siege on Ekiti State Government House where a sitting PDP governor, Ayo Fayose was tear-gassed and physically assaulted by officers of the Police.
“All our national leaders will lead the march followed by thousands of PDP members and supporters to register a total condemnation and rejection of such despotic and draconian antics of the Buhari led administration which has shown uncontrollable desperation to use force as a tool to subvert the will of Ekiti people this weekend.
The obvious attempt to assassinate governor Fayose as reported yesterday in some media outlets is unacceptable and the PDP wants to draw the attention of Nigerians and the entire world to the looming danger the administration of President Muhammadu Buhari is plunging Nigeria into by the use of coercion and force against the opposition and others with divergent views,” the source said.
