PDP chieftains chide Mu’azu over Jonathan re-election bid

A group of Concerned Elders and Chieftains of the ruling People’s Democratic Party (PDP), in Bauchi State, have accused the National Chairman of the party, Alhaji Adamu Mu’azu, of not doing enough to ensure that the re-election bid of  President Goodluck Jonathan was successful.

They were reacting to a press statement issued by the PDP National Publicity Secretary of the party, Chief Oliseh Metuh, over the raging controversy surrounding the commitment of Mu’azu to Jonathan’s re-election bid.

They observed that Mu’azu has his own secret agenda saying: “Metuh should stop defending the indefensible”.

A PDP chieftain in the state, Alhaji Bibi Dogo, advised, on behalf of the Elders and. Chieftains, Jonathan not to rely on Mu’azu to deliver the mandatory 25 percent to him in the forthcoming election, as he had not done anything to empower stakeholders in the state.

He said: “There is also nothing concrete on ground to show Mu’azu personal commitment to the Jonathan’s re-election efforts. Attending Presidential campaign rallies organised by PDP Presidential Campaign Organisation is not enough commitment from the National Chairman of the party.

“In fact, to govern a state for 8 years under the same party is not enough for Mu’azu to deliver Bauchi to Jonathan 100 percent, if actually Mu’azu is in control of the party in his state.”

Bibi disclosed that while other key party members in the state occupying federal appointments were carrying the people of the state along, Mu’azu was clearly not empowering the people as he ought to as a national chairman if the party. He said that why it was the duty of Metuh to defend the party and its officials.

“It is incumbent to tell the truth, no matter whose interest is involved. This is the only way to guarantee the victory of the party in the forthcoming election.

“We will like to state categorically that Metuh is not in the position to tell the truth character of Mu’azu. Muazu governed Bauchi State for for eight years. During the period, he held sway, he worked with people closely as political alliance, party officials, commissioners, special adviser, Local Government Chairmen and Councillors among others. These are the people who should give a good account of Mu’azu true character not Metuh.

“Metuh should come to Bauchi to carry out thorough investigation on the true character of Muazu before defending the indefensible.”

The truth of the matter is that since his emergence as the PDP National Chairman, Mu’azu had not, on his own, conveyed a stakeholders’ forum in Bauchi State to convince the people on why it was binding to support Jonathan’s re-election. Mu’azu had not even deemed it necessary to organise even a walk show to support for Jonathan’s re-election bid in his own state, Bauchi.

The Elders argued that, whereas it was not difficult to know where laid the loyalty of Alhaji Bamanga Tukur, Muazu’s predecessor, today, it was difficult to say so of Mu’azu.
