PDP chief tasks leaders on masses plight

Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) chieftain in Ekiti State, Hon. Opeyemi Falegan, has stressed the need for Nigerian leaders irrespective of different political inclinations to make the masses the centrepiece of their agenda.

Falegan said sparing thought for the well being of people would always ensure uninterrupted peace and sustainable development of the country.

The PDP chieftain who spoke in a statement made available to journalists in Ado Ekiti from the United Kingdom (UK), lamented the hardship Nigerians had been passing through recently to get fuel by queueing up for long hours at filling stations and buying petroleum at cut throat prices.

Falegan appealed to Nigerians to be patient with and provide support for President Muhammadu Buhari to reposition the country.

He said: “The rots in Nigeria cannot be cleared by the President alone hence the need for all hands to be on deck to correct the wrongs in the land for the benefit of this generation and unborn ones”.

He described the lingering fuel crisis and other economic challenges facing Nigeria as a detrimental and appalling trend for the masses to cope with, saying: “The  persistent fuel scarcity in Nigeria is nothing but a national disgrace which must be handled with urgent attention in order to alleviate sufferings of the masses”.

Falegan described the latest fuel scarcity as wickedness against the masses by the petrol marketers, lamented that it was unfortunate that, some government agencies were not doing enough to arrest the situation on time.

He called on the Federal
Government to, as a matter of urgency, direct all necessary machinery in
the oil sector to work round a clock and alleviate the sufferings of the electorate in this regard.

“Recently the Nigeria National Petroleum Corporation (NNPC) was unbundled into seven units and Nigerians thought the development was to bring about a desired sanitisation into the system in order to make the sector more effective and active. But the reverse is the case with what Nigerians are going through on fuel supply now.

“The latest scenario must not be allowed to continue unchecked or uncorrected because Nigerians cannot cope with the current hardship over the fuel scarcity,” Falegan stated.
