PDP appoints Ibori into convention committee

A former governor of Delta state, Chief James Onanefe Ibori, has been appointed into the National Convention Planning Committee for the non elective special convention of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP).
The convention holds tomorrow in Abuja.
Chief Iborii, who recently returned to the country after regaining his feedom from the British prison, is No 41 in the main organising committee list.
The former governor of Delta State between 1999 and 2007, was however, absent at the inaugural meeting of the committee on Wednesday at the party’s headquarters in Abuja.
The committee is headed by the current Delta state governor, Senator Ifeanyi Okowa .
When however contacted on the issue, Ibori’s media aide, Mr. Tony Eluemunor said that there was nothing unusual for Ibori’s nomination to be in the committee.
He said, “It is a privilege given to every former PDP governor. Ibori is a former governor, and he has not left PDP. So, there in nothing unusual in his name being included in the list.
“He was invited to the last NEC (National Executive Committee) meeting but he did not attend,” Eluemunor added.
He however said that he was not in the position to say if the former governor will be at Eagle Square for tomorrow’s convention.
Ibori has not attended any political meeting since he returned to the country last year after he was released from detention.
