Oyo varsity, FUNATO alerts public on fake admission process
The management of the Federal University of Agriculture and Technology, Okeho (FUNATO), Oyo State has raised the alarm over a scheme by fraudsters to corner the public with a fake admission process.
It said in a public notice on Monday that the people should “beware of admission misinformation about FUNATO.”
The notice, signed by the institution’s Vice Chancellor, Professor O. J. Babayemi, reiterated that the school’s official website remained the only source to announce its admission processes.
“The attention of the general public, prospective candidates, parents, and all stakeholders is, hereby, drawn to the need for caution regarding information circulating on social media about the admission process and resumption of students of the Federal University of Agriculture and Technology, Okeho (FUNATO).
“Members of the public are strongly advised not to rely on unverified reports, rumours, or speculations from unofficial sources.
“For the avoidance of doubt, any information about FUNATO that does not emanate directly from the university’s official website, www.funato.edu.ng, should be regarded as false and misleading.
“Some unscrupulous elements are taking advantage of the limited information available to deliberately misinform candidates and their parents, thereby creating unnecessary anxiety and confusion.
“At this time, the university has not opened its admission portal and has not commenced Joint Admission and Matriculation Board (JAMB)-related admission processes.
“Management wishes to clearly state that no individual or group has been authorised to issue admission-related information on behalf of FUNATO outside the approved official channels.
“The university management, in collaboration with the Federal Government that established FUNATO and other critical stakeholders, is working tirelessly to ensure that all necessary requirements are concluded to enable the commencement of the admission process.
“Significant efforts are being made to achieve this within the shortest possible time, and it is hoped that major milestones will be reached before the end of the year,” he said..
