Oyo Politicians Sign Peace Accord

In their bid in ensuring peace and stability before, during and after the Saturday’s governorship and House of Assembly elections in Oyo state, political parties and politicians contesting the elections have signed a peace accord.

The ceremony which took place at the instance of the state commissioner of Police, Muhammad Katsina, at the command’s headquarters in Ibadan, had representatives of political parties including All Progressives Congress, (APC), Accord Party, Democratic Peoples Party (DPP) and Social Democratic Party (SDP) among others.

The commissioner of police, Katsina who was represented by DC Sanusi Buba while addressing the politicians before the signing of the peace accord noted that the peace accord was not to intimidate anyone but to ensure peace and stability in the state before, during and after the elections.

He noted that the command is ready to identify and deal with anyone who intends to forment trouble before, during and after the elections.

In their separate remarks, representatives of Accord led by Dr. Nureni Adeniran commended the command for the initiative saying it will go a way to boost the image of the command in ensuring peace and stability in the state.

Adeniran however urged the command to continue in its efforts to achieve the no violence elections on Saturday.
