Overhaul security architecture of Taraba – Lawmaker

A Taraba State lawmaker has stressed the need to overhaul the Security Architecture of the State.
Hon. (Dr.) Mike Dio Jen representing Karim I Constituency made the disclosure this Wednesday during plenary at the hallowed Chambers of the State Assembly in Jalingo.
Dr. Jen, who joined his colleagues from other Local Governments and Constituencies to condemn the high rate of insecurity experienced across the State said that all hands must be on deck to curb the menace.
“You cannot travel from from point to the other freely and safely unless with a Police Escort, even as a Commoner”, he said.
“Mr, Speaker, before I reached here this morning, there was an attack on one of the Communities in my Constituency, Ussa”,
“The attack on Ussa is just like what is happening between Ukraine and Russia “, Ussa Lawmaker said.
Daily Times gathered that the State Lawmakers on a Matter of Urgent Public Importance as sponsored by the members from Southern Taraba prayed that the Executive Arm of Government should intervene over the wanton destruction of lives and property on daily basis in their areas of Ussa, Donga, Takum, Wukari and Ibi Local Government Areas of the State.
While some members prayed that Security Points be mounted at strategic areas of various Communities, Military presence be established at various points to curb the activities of Bandits, others were of the view that two Fridays and two Sundays be set aside for for Prayers for God’s intervention over the State.
It was also prayed that the State Governor, Dr. Agbu Kefas should discuss with all the Security Agencies in the State to proffer solution.

In remark, the Speaker of the State Assembly, Rt Hon. John Kizito Bonzena appreciated his colleagues for their various contributions pointing out that Security is everybody’s business.
Bonzena, who adopted the Resolutions of Members that a State of Emergency be declared on the Security Sector of the State, that Security Points be mounted at strategic areas across the State, asked the Clerk of the House to communicate same to the Executive Arm of the Government.
