‘Over 70% of Us Once Opposed Tinubu’ — Presidential Aide Reveals

More than 70 percent of those currently working with President Bola Tinubu were once opposed to him, his Special Adviser on Media and Public Communications, Daniel Bwala, has revealed.

Bwala made this disclosure in an interview with The PUNCH while dismissing criticisms over his appointment as a presidential aide.

He described the president as a “team player” who prioritizes competence and loyalty to the country over past political differences.

The presidential aide, who previously served as the spokesperson for the Atiku Abubakar Presidential Campaign Council during the 2023 elections, argued that opposition is a necessary part of the democratic process but should not prevent collaboration for national development.

“If you look at the President’s team, more than 70 percent of the people working with him were people who had at some point opposed him or his party.

“But he saw value in them and brought them on board. That is the hallmark of a true leader, Bwala stated.

He cited his own appointment as evidence of Tinubu’s inclusive leadership style, noting that his past role as an opposition spokesperson did not disqualify him from serving in the current administration.

Bwala also addressed the recent wave of defections and political realignments, urging Nigerians to focus on the president’s efforts to unite the country and address its challenges rather than dwelling on political histories.

The aide’s comments come amidst ongoing debates about the composition of the President’s team and the integration of former political adversaries into the government
