Osun poll: Panic in APC, PDP, as Omisore posters flood towns
Ahead of the 2018 governorship election in Osun State, the appearance of Senator Iyiola Omisore’s posters in major towns of the state have sent panic to the camps of the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC) and the opposition Peoples’ Democratic Party (PDP) in the State.
The posters sponsored by the Osun Youth Solidarity Forum (OYSF), have been pasted in all the strategic places across the 33 local government areas of the state.
Although the posters of the embattled former governorship candidate of the Peoples’ Democratic Party (PDP) in the 2014 election did not carry any party logo, credible sources hinted that Senator Iyiola Omisore has been in high level talk with the leadership of the Social Democratic Party (SDP), to secure his ticket for the plum office.
He said Senator Iyiola Omisore who fell out with the Peoples’ Democratic Party, after he lost a court battle against the leadership of the party in Osun to contest the May 2018 primaries had been holding meetings with the SDP to clinch the governorship ticket.
Findings by The Daily Times however revealed that the release of Senator Omisore’s posters is already changing the political permutation in the State towards the August 18, 2018 gubernatorial election.
It was also discovered that the Social Democratic Party (SDP) is making waves in all the three Senatorial Districts of the State, following the fall out of same political heavy weights from the PDP and the ruling All Progressive Congress (APC).
A Social Democratic Party (SDP) source said that some of the big wigs that defected from the PDP with Senator Iyiola Omisore in the wake of the crisis had been promised elective offices in the coming general elections.
Meanwhile, there are strong indications that the SDP has decided to test its strength in Osun, in the August 18, 2018 before spreading to other states in the 2019 general elections.
The party which launched its come back to the political scene recently in some states of the federation is believed to be holding crucial meetings with some political big wigs in Nigeria, in order to wrestle power from the ruling APC.
