Osun State Police Command, has confirmed that two persons died in the election violence that erupted during the presidential and National Assembly election at Ikirun, Ifelodun Local Government Areas and Oloomu, in Ife South LGA.
The state commissioner of police, Sam Okaula, disclosed this to newsmen in Osogbo, the Osun state capital, on Sunday.
He also noted that 10 suspects were arrested in connection with violence during the election.
The commissioner said, “Reports reaching the command, indicated that the deceased were involved in electoral fraud that resulted in a clash between political parties which eventually led to the death of both men.”
While assuring that the police would prevent further electoral violence, he added that some of those arrested were connected to the deceased persons.
“Investigation is on-going to ascertain the true cause of the clash and anyone found culpable will be made to face the full wrath of law accordingly,” he added.
