Orji, Otti, Ogah, others condemn Ozubulu massacre

Abians have continued to condemn the August, 8 killing of more than 50 church worshippers at St. Philip Catholic Church, Ozubulu in Ananmbra state.

Immediate past governor of Abia state and Senator representing Abia central, Theodore Orji, has expressed his displeasure on the Ozubulu, Anambra State early morning church massacre describing it as repulsive and irreverence to God.

Sen. Orji who is also member Senate committee on Police Affair urged the Anambra State Commissioner of Police, Mr. Garba Umar, and the Inspector General of Police, Ibrahim Idris, to ensure that the killer and the orchestrators of the dastardly act were fished-out and adequately punished.

In a statement signed by Don Norman Obinna, his Media Adviser, Sen. Orji said: “It is very frightening that men do not have the fear of God in them any longer.

“To walk into the house of God boldly and opened fire on unarmed worshippers is repulsive and irreverence to God.

“The perpetrators of this dastardly act should be fished-out and made to face the consequences of their action even though their low lives are not just enough to atone for their provocative action.”

He however condoled with the victims’ families, law abiding people and the government of Anambra State even as he prayed that God will give them the fortitude to bear the irreparable loss.
Also condemned in strong terms the killing is the MD/CEO of Masters Energy Group and a former governorship aspirant under the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP in Abia Dr. Uchechukwu Sampson Ogah Condemns Ozubulu church Massacre.

Dr. Ogah described the killings as not only abhorrent but an act of impertinence to the almighty, and asked the police to ensure that the perpetrators of “this ungodly act” will be fished out and punished accordingly.

Addressing the press at his home town in Onuaku, Uturu, Abia state, Dr. Ogah said he was very saddened at the incident and expresses worry as to why people no longer have the fear of God in them.

“The perpetrators of this condemnable act should be fished-out and made to face the repercussion of their cowardly actions on innocent Christians”, he said and commiserated with the victims’ family, the people and government of Anambra State and prayed to God to give them the strength of mind to bear the irredeemable loss.

Accordingly too, the Abia State APGA governorship candidate in the 2015 governorship election, Dr. Alex Otti has sent his heartfelt condolences to the government and people of Anambra state, the Ozubulu Community and the Catholic Church in Ozubulu over the “gruesome and coldblooded murder” of some worshipers at St. Philips Catholic Church, Amakwa Ozubulu by unknown gunmen.

According to his Media Assistant to Ferdinand Ekeoma, Dr. Otti who said he was heavily pained that some persons could muster the courage to invade a holy place of worship and massacre defenseless citizens who had gone to seek the face of the Lord described the killing as “an unjustifiable cruelty that should not go unpunished”.

While calling on political and religious leaders, as well as their followers in Anambra and beyond to unite at this challenging moment and stand by the families of those killed and the injured so as to show them the deserving brotherly love and solidarity that could help assuage their pain, challenged security agents to exhibit the best form of professionalism and leave no stone unturned in ensuring that the perpetrators of that heinous crime are brought to justice as that is the only way to avert future occurrence.

He called on the people not to hesitate to avail security agents with any vital information that could help track the fleeing murderers.

It was also a question from an Abian philanthropist and founder, Charles Nzechi foundation, Charles Nzechi who asked “Why must people feel free to desecrate the house of God? Why must evil find its way into the church?”

He described the killing as barbaric and a threat to the peace of the Community and Church in general, expressing his worry on how right thinking people could muster the courage to attack innocent worshippers in the house of God, saying it shows the lack of respect for God and the Church.

While expressing his heartfelt condolence for Government and people of Anambra State, over the attack, he prayed for the speedy recovery of the injured victims, and prayed that God should grant internal rest to souls of the deceased.

Nzechi urged all the law enforcement agencies in Anambra and Nigeria in general to team up and fish out the perpetrators of the act and punish them to serve as deterrence to others.

He also urged the state government as well as the federal government to immediately commence measures to give palliative assistance to the survivors and the family of the deceased to assuage their emotional trauma.
