Minister of Foreign Affairs, Mr. Geoffrey Onyeama, has donated medical equipment to the Enugu state government for the treatment and protection against coronavirus (COVID- 19) pandemic in the state.
Onyeama, who also distributed food items to some motherless babies’ homes and vulnerable residents and members of the All Progressives Congress (APC), said Nigerians have become vulnerable on account of the novel COVID-19.
Onyeama, who was represented by Deacon Okey Ogbodo, an APC chieftain in the state, stated that the distribution of the palliatives was in conjunction with the Kwusike Foundation and Kwusike political family in Enugu state, and urged Nigerians to continue to show love and accommodate one another in these trying times.
Distributing the palliatives on Sunday, he said the food items were donated to members of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in the state, charity homes, physically challenged persons, Nigerian Red Cross and homes for the elderly among other vulnerable people in the state.
Onyeama, who is a member of the Presidential Taskforce on COVID-19, said the medical equipment were meant to strengthen the resolve of the state government in shutting out COVID-19.

He urged Nigerians to keep to safety instructions and face the pandemic with prayers and faith in God.
He said that some of the food items and protective equipment were meant for the indigent members of the APC in the state and others.
Responding on behalf of the state government, the Permanent Secretary, Ministry of Health, Dr. Ifeanyi Agujiobi described the gift of the medical items as special.
Agujiobi said that the state government was proud of the minister and was solidly behind him in all his undertakings.
He said that the state had in Onyeama, a worthy son and representative that could be trusted.
The permanent secretary said that the state government would put the medical equipment to good use in the crusade against COVID-19.
The medical equipment donated included infrared thermometers, surgical kits, medical goggles and facemasks and washable facemasks.
Others are COVID-19 test kits, facemasks, overall kits and sanitisers.
The food items include bags of rice, beans and garri, cartons of noodles, several tubers of yam, vegetable oil, provisions and diapers.
