One Shot, Others Injured at Ogun PDP Rally

As political parties round off the Presidential and National Assembly rally, tragedy struck on Wednesday, when the political rally of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in Ogun East Senatorial District turned bloody, as security operatives attached to the convoy of the party’s senatorial candidate, Buruji Kashamu, allegedly shot one of the onlookers.
The victim, identified as Bembe-Bembe, was later rushed to Babcock University Teaching Hospital in Ilishan-Remo, in Ikenne Local Government Area,
for treatment.
A source at the event, who preferred anonymity, told our correspondent that the incident happened in Okun Owa Ward 3, near Sabo market, in Odogbolu Local Government Area. According to him, the campaign team of the senatorial candidate was done with the campaign when a vehicle in the convoy allegedly hit a passer-by who sustained injuries.
People in the area reportedly reacted to the incident and attempted blocking the convoy but were repelled by security operatives and personal security men attached to the politician. The security men, it was learnt, started shooting sporadically to scare people away and in the process hit the man in his stomach.
A lot of people took to their heels as Buruji’s asoociates, who were wearing black vests, started shooting sporadically into the air. The Director-General of Buruji’s Campaign Organisation, Otunba Leke Adekoya, said nothing of such happened during the campaign.
