One injured as hoodlums invade police station in Ebonyi
One person was on Monday injured when hoodlums numbering over 10 invaded a police station in Noyo Community, Ikwo Local Government Area of Ebonyi State.
An eyewitness said the hoodlums were armed with Ak-47 when they stormed the police station in the morning.
He noted that some policemen who were on duty ran away from the station on sighting the hoodlums.
Confirming the incident, the state Commissioner of Police, Peace Abdallah said police foiled attempt by the hoodlums to set the police station ablaze as all their efforts to burn down the station was aborted.
“The gang who operated with AK47 rifles poured petrol and threw fire into the DPO’s Office before they were repelled by the superior fire power of officers on duty.
“All the officers and men at the station are safe except a guard who sustained injury during the attack”, she disclosed.
She said Police had begun trailing the suspected hoodlums and enjoined members of the public to always provide useful information to the Police to enable them carry out their operations effectively.
