Ondo Signage Agency goes after erring politicians

The Ondo State Signage and Advertisement Agency (OSSAA) has declared that it would no longer tolerate indiscriminate pasting of posters and mounting of billboards in unauthorised places without necessary permits as electioneering periods in the state draw nearer.

Chairman of the Agency, Mr. Remi Ofakunrin, who handed down the warning last weekend in Akure, the state capital, expressed dissatisfaction at the way posters of political aspirants were indiscriminately used to disfigure the nooks and crannies of the beautified areas of the state capital.

Ofakunrin said politicians aspiring for political offices and members of their parties in the forthcoming elections of the April 23rd, and November 26th, local government and governorship poll respectively in the state must maintained politeness by approaching the agency before pasting posters and erecting bill boards.

He said the agency would not tolerate indiscriminate pasting of posters, erection of billboards and other outdoor structures in unauthorised places in the state by aspirants or candidates of political parties.

The Chairman also warned against pasting of posters on lamp poles and other parts of the state capital, adding that the agency would continue to protect the beautification plans of the state capital under the present administration.

He called on Politicians, business owners and religious organizations who want to paste posters, erect billboards and other outdoor structures to approach the agency for necessary permits.

Ofakunrin noted that the agency was not against pasting of posters in outdoor structures by political parties and their candidates but averred that due process must be followed in order not to violate the law of the state.

He vowed that the agency would henceforth go after defaulters who violate the established law of the state by indiscriminately pasting posters stressing that agreement had been reached to involve security agencies to further check illegal pasting of posters and erection of billboards in any part of the state.
