Ondo Senator Boroffice Commissions Obstetric Care Hospital As Constituency Project

As parts of his determination to promote quality health services delivery, the Senator representing Ondo North Senatorial District, Ajayi Boroffice has inaugurated a 24-bed obstetric hospital at Oka Akoko in Ondo state.
Senator Boroffice said that the need for the people of his constituency to enjoy adequate health care delivery prompted the facilitation of the obstetric hospital built in the rustic town.
The Chairman Senate Committee on Science and Technology added that the obstetric care hospital, which also has an operating theatre, a delivery room and antenatal wards, would be handed over to the Federal Medical Centre (FMC) in Owo for optimal health use.
He disclosed that the hospital has been provided with a 24 hour sola powered electricity and borehole pipe borne water to strengthen health service delivery system in the constituency.
“One has to be responsible to the needs and aspiration of the people and my constituency was in need of good facilities for health service delivery hence we brought in here the obstetric care hospital under the Millennium Development Goals (MGD)” Senator Boroffice said.
According to him, the health facility would be expanded when more medical doctors and nurses are deployed, stressing that there will also be enough finance to sustain the obstetric care hospital.
In his remarks, Honourable Babatunde Kolawole, a member representing Akoko South/East and South West Federal Constituency of the state in the House of Representatives said that the project was laudable and will enhance health nature of the area and also reduce drastically the risk associated with travelling far to access health facilities.
Kunle Adesokan, the Acting Head of Clinical Services of the Federal Medical Centre (FMC) in Owo said the obstetric hospital would bring medical care to the doorstep of the residents in the constituency unlike before when they had to travel down to Owo to access health care.
Dr. Adesokan later called for the provision of facilities and equipment needed for basic surgical and obstetric procedures with ability to make diagnostic test and enhance medical and paediatric consultations.
Earlier, Alfred Omosola, the chairman of the project committee said the obstetric care hospital was a big gesture that would transform the health status of the people and thanked the senator for facilitating the project.
“Apart from this Obstetric Care Hospital facilitated by our distinguished Senator Boroffice, he has also attracted some projects to the constituency and among them are: the Biofuel Ethanol plant in Ajowa, the Incubation Centre in Oka and Skills Acquisition Centre also in Oka among others”.
In his words, Oba Adebori Adeleye, the traditional ruler of Oka Akoko, noted that the hospital would be of greater beneficiary to the local people while soliciting for more developmental projects.
