Ondo professionals accuse Mimiko of starving workers

The unpaid salaries of Ondo state workers, running into nine months have pitted Ondo state governor, Olusegun Mimiko and Ondo professionals in Edo state against each other.

A statement by the Chairman of the socio political group, Dr. Ibikunle Falana, and its Secretary, Bayo Olukayode, said the governor’s hardline posture of putting his personal interest above that of  the unpaid workers, has  cast a new view to the level of propaganda.

Members of the group arrived at its decision after its quarterly meeting held at the Weekend in Benin City, the Edo State capital where it alleged that “tertiary Institutions staff are dying in silence, particularly Ondo State Polytechnic, Owo”.

The statement affirmed the victory of Ondo state governor-elect, Rotimi Akeredolu and the All Progressives Congress for liberating the people of the state from the oppressors, leaving on its wake, anger and frustration.

It also challenged the incumbent governor of Ondo state, Olusehun Mimiko to account for the N20 billion of tax payers money which he inherited from his predecessor, Olusegun Agagu.

“He should leave whatever remain in the treasury for the incoming administration. After Mimiko predecessor, Olusegun Agagu left over N20 billion for him without any backlog of unpaid workers”, the statement said.
