Ondo Police Parades Owo Robbery Suspects, Recovers N9m

The Nigeria Police Force (NPF), Ondo State Command, has arrested seven of the suspected armed robbers, who attacked and robbed banks in Owo Local Government Area of the state.

 

The armed robbers, numbering about 50, had penultimate Thursday robbed Eko, Wema, First, and Skye Banks simultaneously.

 

They were among the 91 suspected criminals paraded, on Monday, by the State Commissioner of Police, Isaac Eke, at the state police headquarters, Akure.

 

Addressing reporters on Monday, at the Command headquarters,  Eke said the suspected armed robbers were part of those that also killed seven policemen, two bank officials and over thirteen members of the public.

 

The suspects were arrested by a combined team of policemen and military personnel drawn from Ondo and Edo, while trying to escape, Daily Times learnt.

 

12, 000 round of ammunitions, six assault rifles, 17 AK rifles, three riot gunners, one revolver pistol, one chief revolver pistol, 11 dynamites and 142 magazines were recovered from the arrested bandits.

 

Also recovered were two sub-machine guns, six Beretta rifles, two scorpion guns, three large rifles, three Dane guns, Tarakov rifle and three pump action guns.
