Ondo new speaker, deputy defect to ruling APC

The newly elected speaker of the Ondo state House of Assembly, Hon. David Bamidele Oleyeloogun, his deputy Hon. Ogudeji Iroju and two others Ayo Arowele and Segun Ajimotokin on Monday dumped the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) for the ruling All Progressive Congress (APC) shortly after their emergence as the leaders of the house.
Addressing journalists at the cocoa conference hall of the governor’s office, in Akure, the state capital, Oleyeloogun said it became necessary for him and his colleagues to leave the PDP since the party has been fractionalized from the federal to the state and that of the local government, showing no positive direction.
In his words “we have been elected by the electorates to make good Laws for governance, we cannot continue to remain in a party that is not settled for a long time, giving distraction to the elected political office holders, hence we decided to leave the party,” he said.
While Oleyeloogun posits that APC is the only party in the state with settle structure and platform, where the people of the state and electorates’ in general can enjoy the dividends of democracy. Assuring the people of Ondo state of their cooperation and determination not to let them down in discharging their constitutional roles as legislators.
The new Speaker also disclosed that other legislators from the PDP will Join the APC on the floor of the House today, showing full appreciation of APC as the party that have the focus and direction to move the state and country forward positively.
The new leadership of the House promised their cooperation with the Governor of the state, Arakunrin Oluwarotimi Akeredolu at moving the state to enviable heights amongst comity of states in the country.
