Ondo: INEC Presents Certificate of Return to NASS Members-Elect
The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC), on Wednesday, issued Certificate of Return to winners of the March 28 National Assembly election in Ondo State.
Prof. Akinola Salau, the National Commissioner supervising Ondo, Ogun, and Lagos States presented the certificates at a short ceremony in Akure, the capital city.
Salau said the elected members should be magnanimous in victory by extending hands of fellowship to losers in the election.
He pledged INEC’s commitment to conducting a free, fair and credible election, and urged the political class to shun do-or-die politics.
“The political class must change their attitude of extreme ambition of wanting to be victorious by all means,” he said.
He also tasked new members to provide good governance by tackling developmental challenges bedevilling their respective constituencies.
He added that this would help justify the confidence reposed in them by the people in their constituencies.
Daily Times correspondent reports that the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) won four House of Representatives seats with one Senate seat, while the All Progressives Congress (APC) won five House of Representatives seats with two Senate seats.
Earlier, the Resident Electoral Commissioner (REC), in the state, Mr. Olusegun Agbaje, charged them to ensure adequate representation of their people, who voted into the position.
The new Senator representing Ondo South Senatorial District, Pastor Yele Omogunwa, promised to bring on board quality representation and never to disappoint his people.
