In its determination to put an end to the spate of insecurity in the state, the Ondo state government is set to organise a security summit in order to find lasting solution to security threats that have been ravaging the state for some months.
Chairman, Planning Committee of the Security Summit, Jones Ogunmusere, disclosed this on Monday at a press briefing with journalists in Akure, the state capital.
Ogunmusere, who is also the Senior Special Adviser to the Government on the Administration and Policy Planning, explained that the Security Summit was necessitated by the ravaging security challenges which had been plaguing the state.
He noted that the security summit was very important so that the state can create conducive environment for investors and their investments in the state.
In the words of Ogunmusere, “the geographical location of Ondo state is such that people with criminal tendencies make inroad into the state from neighbouring states.
“It is for this reason therefore that Mr. Governor (Rotimi Akeredolu) decided to constitute this committee to package and organised a summit that will take place on Thursday 17, January 2019”.
He gave assurance that the summit which was of its kind will also look at the holistic and comprehensive approach to solving security challenges in the state.
According to him, the summit with the theme: “Improving Security Architecture in Ondo State for Sustainable Peace and Development,” has eight other sub-themes to critically examine security issues.
Mr. Ogunmusere disclosed that no less than 500 participants cutting across the strata of the society had already been invited to critically examine all security issues pertaining to the summit.
Members of the Committee include SSA on Security Matter, Permanent Secretary and Solicitor General, Ministry of Justice, Permanent Secretary, Cabinet and Special Services and representative of other Security Agencies in the state.
