Ondo Guber: Aspirant promises good governance, if elected

An aspirant in the forthcoming Ondo State Governorship election, Mrs Funmilayi Adekojo, has assured that she will enthrone good governance in the State, if elected as the governor of the state.

She gave the assurance while speaking with newsmen at the All Progressives Congress, (APC) National Secretariat, Buhari House, yesterday in Abuja, when she came to purchase her declaration of interest and nomination forms, saying, “she was not in anyway, intimidated by other aspirants in the race.”

The Independent National Electrical Commission, (INEC) has fixed the forthcoming Ondo State Governorship election for November 16, 2024.

She said: “I want to serve the people of Ondo State by giving my best, as an engineer, I will make engineers, and the state proud, my focus will be education, youth employment, and utilising the State’s blue sea.

“I am a woman of the people, am close to those at the grassroots and I know what they need and will work towards meeting their needs.

“With my hard earned money, I have single handedly, raised 15,000 women and youths in Akoko and Ondo State generally, on skills acquisition and entrepreneurship.

“You can’t be a politician by just practicing politics, but by positively, impacting on lives of the people, that I had done, even as a private person,” she said.

Adekojo expressed optimism that she would emerge as the APC Ondo State governorship candidate at its primaries because, she has the support of women in the state and some of its critical stakeholders.

Mr Emma Enekwu, Chairman, State Primary Election Committee of the party, on Tuesday, announced that the sales of Nomination and Expression of Interest Forms for the State Governorship election would run from March 27 to April 3.

He also said screening of aspirants will hold from April 11 to April 12, while Delegate Congress would hold on Monday, April 15 while the State primary election holds on April 20.

The party’s nomination form had been fixed for N10,000,000 while its Expression of Interest forms goes for N40,000,000 for male aspirants.

Female aspirants and persons with disabilities are to pay N10,000,000 for the Expression of interest forms while the nomination form is free.
