Ondo APC Team up with Aggrieved PDP Members Ahead Assembly Election
Ahead of the House of Assembly election, in Ondo State, the leadership of the All Progressives Congress (APC) and aggrieved members of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) have entered into an accord aimed at ensuring that all candidates of the APC emerged winner in the Saturday April 11 polls.
At a meeting convened by Jimoh Ibrahim, a stalwart of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), in the state, tagged “Igbotako Accord” leaders of the two political parties signed an accord to work together.
The agreement signed by Isaac Kekemeke and the factional state Chairman of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), OluOgunye, promised to work ‘together’ for the success of only the candidates of the APC in the House of Assembly election.
Daily Times gathered that at the end of the meeting, held at the Igbotako private residence of Jimoh Ibrahim, the two leaders of party issued and signed a communiqué with a call on their respective supporters to vote en masse for the candidates of the APC.
Daily Timeslearnt that the two leaders’decision to sign an accord was based on the political and economic situation of the state, in order to stop the drift in the governance of Ondo State.
“The meeting deliberated on the political, economic situation and the political realities in the state and concluded that a united front of both the APC and the PDP was required to restore the hope of the people in governance and stop further economic and social slide in the state”, the source disclosed.
Reacting to this development, the All Progressives Congress (APC) media Committee Secretary, Titiloye Charles, said the aim of the accord aimed at salvaging the state from the current alleged mismanagement and lauded the leadership of the two parties for their unity.
“The aim is to salvage Ondo State from current mismanagement, lack of focus and direction cum poverty and unemployment of the youths.
“You will agreed with me that Ondo State, which is the only oil-producing state in south-west, has little to show for billions of naira accruing to it”.
He added that all the citizens of the state must use the opportunity of next week House of Assembly election to inject sanity and good governance to the state by unanimously voting for all APC candidates.
