Ondo APC hails return of Unity Forum gladiators, assures them of seamless integration

The All Progressives Congress (APC) in Ondo State has expressed its happiness in the decision of the Hon. Idowu Otetubi led-executive of the Unity Forum to dissolve into the parent-body, the state chapter of the party, describing it as significant, and a prerequisite for genuine reconciliation in the state chapter of the party.

The party said it was elated “over the voluntary and unconditional withdrawal of a case at the Federal High Court, Akure, instituted by the group, challenging the composition of the Engr. Ade Adetimehin led State Executive.”

The party in a statement signed by its State Publicity Secretary, Mr. Alex Kalejaye, noted that the state chairman, Engr. Adetimehin, applauds the former chairman of the Unity Forum and members of his executive for placing the fortune of the party ahead of personal ego and interest.

The The leader of the Unity Forum of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in Ondo State, Mr Idowu Otetubi, had surprised many by dumping the group to pitch tent with Governor Rotimi Akeredolu’s camp in the party.

The former factional leader made this known on Sunday while speaking to newsmen in Akure, the Ondo State capital, saying that his move was to promote the ongoing reconciliation process within the APC.

He said, “The time has come for us to end this exercise in futility and halt the needless distractions that we have given to the parent-body, APC. The unity we craved for, in a group that was propelled by sheer envy, jealousy and greed has thus far remained elusive.

“In light of the above, I, Idowu Otetubi, have resolved to pull out of the Unity Forum. In making this announcement, I leave no room for further negotiations on the matter.”

While reacting to the pending case in the court, he declared, “Ahead of this declaration, as we speak, I have withdrawn unconditionally, my case in court, suit No. FHC/AK/CS/10/2019, challenging the composition of the State Executive Committee of the party.

“These decisions are purely informed by my unquenchable desire for the progress of the state and the APC, particularly, the Ondo State chapter,” he added.

The APC chairman said the collapse of the Unity Forum structure into the party structure would further enhance the cohesion and chances of the party in any election in the state.

He added that the collapse of the structure into the party translates into additional value, and would make the governorship task ahead much easier.

According to the party chairman, “Otetubi as a highly experienced politician as well as a dogged political warrior, whose love for the development of Ondo State is exemplary.”

The party chieftain assured of comprehensive integration into the main fold for Hon. Otetubi and his team adding, “There will be no discrimination of any type against returnees because we are one.”

Adding that, “It is in the best interest of our party for all of us to work together at a critical period like this and work for the victory of APC at the governorship election.”
