Ondo 2020: Group tackles Oshiomhole for allegedly endorsing Akeredolu for second term

A socio-political group within the All Progressives Congress (APC) in Ondo State, the Unity Mandate Agenda, has kicked against the reported endorsement of Governor Oluwarotimi Akeredolu by National Chairman of the party, Comrade Adams Oshiomhole for a second term in office.
The group said the reported comments of Oshiomhole looked like giving an easy ride for another term in office for Akeredolu, which will have an adverse impact on the resolve of the Unity Forum to have a change within the APC for the leadership of the state.
The National Coordinator of the group, Comrade Babatope Abisola, in a press statement issued in Akure, accused Governor Akeredolu of bribing the National Working Committee of the APC.
Abisola said Oshiomhole or the NWC has not denied the bribery allegation.
He also accused Senator Ajayi Boroffice of creating the template of crisis in order for him to either allow Akeredolu go for another term or to install a puppet governor.
According to the group in the statement, “The reason is for Senator Boroffice to install a puppet Governor who will serve as his lackey for his 2023 Vice Presidential project as he intends to run alongside the Senate President, Ahmad Lawan in 2023.
“Whether each of the above or both are responsible for this great misadventure, we can only say that we are highly disappointed in the ensuing scenarios.
“However, we shall continue to pursue our legitimate cause to ensure our widely respected candidate, Chief Olusola Oke, SAN, is nominated and subsequently elected as the next governor of Ondo State come October,” the group added.
However, Senator Boroffice who spoke through his media aide, Kayode Fayuki, described the allegation as laughable, saying the group was not credible.
Also, the Ondo Commissioner for Information and Orientation, Donald Ojogo, who denied the bribery allegation, said the group and its sponsors were already frustrated.
