Omambala Union confers Obiano chieftaincy title

The venue, awash with colours, was beaming with row upon row of the crème de la crème of the society. From the fringe of the Sahara to the Atlantic coastline, in attendance were men and women of goodwill and valour.

The event was for a mega political rally and conferment of “Odogwu Omambala” title to Anambra State Governor, Chief Willie Obiano.

The Otuocha Township Stadium, Anambra East Local Government Area being the venue witnessed influx of mammoth crowd gathered across the over 49 communities in Omambala Union.

The 49 communities make up the six local governments in Anambra North Senatorial Zone.

Many groups in their flamboyant identities were in attendance to display APGA unity and strength.

Conferring the title, the Chairman, Anambra North Traditional Rulers Council and Traditional Ruler of Onitsha, Igwe Alfred, said the title was in confirmation with his achievements in the past three years of his administration.

Igwe Achebe recalled the various endorsement by different groups of the re-election of Governor Obiano.

“We are comfortable with Obiano administration. We will support him for second term to complete his eight years after which Anambra South will take over. We will adhere to zoning arrangements, “Achebe said.

Receiving the title, Governor Obiano noted he would consolidate on his continuity agenda to make the state viable option for commercial activities.

According to him, “After my eight years, I will further transform every facet of development simultaneously to make the state economically viable and create more opportunities for business to strive.

Obiano charged election umpires and political parties to observe electoral rules and allow the vote of the people count.

Equally speaking, the Chairman, Obiano re-election Committee and former National Chairman of APGA, Chief Victor Umeh, expressed confidence that Obiano’s second term would further solidify his efforts in developing the state.

“We are sure of over 150,000 to 200,000 votes in Anambra North. The mammoth crowd here is to testify Obiano’s achievements. I assure you that APGA will defeat landslide,” Umeh said.

The traditional ruler of Umueri in Anambra East Local Government Area, Igwe Ben Emeka, stated that the present administration had provided adequate facilities in all sectors and improved the people’s standard of living.
