Omah Lay Criticizes BBL Trend, Calls It “Old-Fashioned and Unattractive”

Nigerian singer Omah Lay has stirred controversy online after dismissing the popularity of Brazilian Butt Lift (BBL) surgeries, calling the trend “old-fashioned and very unattractive.”

The “Soso” hitmaker made the comment on his X (formerly Twitter) page, triggering a wave of reactions across social media. While some of his followers applauded him for speaking his mind and promoting body confidence, others accused him of body-shaming and being insensitive to women’s choices.

“He’s just saying what a lot of us are thinking,” one user commented in support. “Natural is always better.”

But critics were quick to challenge the artist’s message. “Men always have opinions on women’s bodies, yet set impossible beauty standards,” another user responded. “It’s not your place.”

The backlash has sparked broader conversations about body image, celebrity influence, and societal expectations in Nigeria. Some argue that celebrities like Omah Lay should use their platforms more responsibly, especially when addressing sensitive topics related to women’s bodies and self-esteem.
