The Olubadan-In-Council has officially nominated Oba Rashidi Adewolu Ladoja as the 44th Olubadan of Ibadanland, marking a significant moment in the ancient city’s traditional leadership succession.
The announcement was made on Monday following a crucial meeting of the council, which comprises high-ranking Ibadan chiefs and traditional titleholders.
Ladoja, a former governor of Oyo State and the Otun Olubadan of Ibadanland, is next in line according to the city’s well-structured chieftaincy hierarchy.
His nomination follows the recent passing of Oba Mohood Lekan Balogun, the 43rd Olubadan, whose tenure was marked by a push for modernization and greater unity in the ancient city.
Pending the approval of Governor Seyi Makinde, Ladoja’s installation will make history as he becomes one of the few former governors in Nigeria to ascend to such a revered traditional stool.
