Olayinka Aliyu Takes Helm as Lagos Ultimate Lions Club Celebrates Fifth Anniversary

The Lagos Ultimate Lions Club, under Lions Clubs International District 404 B2 Nigeria, marked its fifth anniversary on January 18, 2026, with a fundraising ceremony and the investiture of Lion Olayinka Fatimah Aliyu as its sixth president.
The event, held at De Vine Hall, Opebi, Lagos, drew district leaders, traditional authorities, government representatives and members of the public. It also featured the installation of club officers for the 2025/2026 Lions Service Year.
In her inaugural address, Lion Olayinka expressed gratitude for the confidence reposed in her, describing the Lions movement as a global force for compassion and transformative service. She unveiled key humanitarian projects for her tenure, including a flagship three-in-one intervention at Onilekere Primary School: reconstruction of the vendors’ kitchen, renovation of the sick bay, and rehabilitation of the borehole to improve sanitation.
The ceremony was formally opened by Lion Olatunde Ojerinde, past district governor, while Lion Beatrice Obogo emphasised the club’s ethos of service without expectation of reward. The Lions Code of Ethics was delivered by Lion Akintunde Akinlabi, marketing and communications chairperson.
Chairman of the occasion, Hon. Akeem Olalekan Dauda, represented by Lion Shonibare Azeez Oriyomi, pledged continued government support for the club’s humanitarian efforts. Prince Adekunle Apen, Regent of Ikeja, commended the club’s consistent service and urged deeper grassroots engagement.
District Governor, Lion Oluwakemi Eribake, congratulated the club on its anniversary, describing the event as a renewed commitment to service and leadership. She encouraged the new executive to strengthen fellowship, inspire participation and expand partnerships.
Immediate past president, Lion Ambassador Dr Olatunde Gbolahan Ojeyinde, thanked members for their support during his tenure, noting that the club had been stabilised and actively engaged in district programmes. He advised the new leadership to prioritise dues payment and deepen humanitarian outreach.
The ceremony also featured the induction of new members and awards to distinguished personalities, including the grandmother of the club, Olatundun Abike Omosaiye; grand matron, Lion Hon. Oyindamola Adegoke, represented by Lion Hon. Oluwafumilayo Ayoola; and grand patron, Otunba Dr Ademola Adesoye.
The event concluded with renewed pledges by members and partners to advance humanitarian service across Lagos communities.
