Okowa’s wife donates food items to correctional service centres

The wife of the Delta state Governor, Mrs. Edith Okowa on Sunday, donated food items worth millions of naira to five correctional service centers in the state

This is coming ahead of her 59th birthday celebration and her interest in assisting the less privileged in the society.

Items donated include bags of rice, beans, onions, vegetable oil and other essential cooking condiments, alongside cash donations.

Representatives of the correctional service centers in Asaba, Sapele, Warri, Kwale, Agbor and Ogwashi Uku were handed over the food items in Asaba.

Speaking to journalists, Mrs. Okowa said that her pet project, 05 initiative had at inception pledged to feed and taken care of inmates of correctional centres in the state.

Mrs. Okowa explained that arrangements had been made with administrators of the various centers to ensure that the food items were distribued to the inmates, considering the spread of the COVID-19 pandemic.

Receiving the items, the Secretary to the Warri South Local Government, Mr. Joseph Oribioye said that the gesture proves that the benefactors were in touch with mankind.

“I must say that the charitable donations from Mrs. Edith Okowa, ia clear indication of love to the inmates including the less previledged ones. It’s our wish that the good Lord continues to strengthen her,” Oribioye stated.

Recall that few months ago, Mrs. Edith Okowa paid the bills over 30 patients who were stranded at the Federal Medical Center (FMC), Asaba, and distributed gift items to pregnant women who delivered their babies at the same hospital.
