Okowa harps on peace for sustaining development

Delta State Governor, Dr. Ifeanyi Okowa has sued for peace as main stay to sustaining development in the state.
The Governor who made this declaration on Thursday in Issele-Uku,
Aniocha North Local Government Area of the state while presenting a staff of office to a 29 year old Monarch, Obi (Engr.) Nduka Ezeagwuna, the Obi of Issele-Uku, emphasized the need for peaceful co-existence
among the people of the area.
Dr. Okowa represented by his deputy, Barr. Kingsley Burutu Otuaro noted that a community of people without peace cannot boast of any meaningful development, and called on those who may have been engaged in acrimony to desist from such act and embrace peace for the progress and sustainability of development.
While congratulating the Obi on his ascension to the throne of his late father, the governor urged him to handle his people with the fear of God, adding that Issele-Uku kingdom had been blessed to have good
kings who listen to their people.
Governor Okowa regretted the death of the father who died in a ghastly motor accident along the expressway on his way home in August 9, 2014, saying that his sudden death hitherto would be difficult to erase in the minds of Deltans especially the people of Issele-Uku who knew him very closely.
His words: “I know as you ascend the thrown today, there will be lots of challenges but you listen to your people, adopt, their culture, and they will be proud of you at all times” and warned the people against indulging acts capable of bringing disgrace to the king and the entire community.
The governor thanked the people for their supports for his administration, disclosing that his SMART agenda was working assiduous to bring about prosperity and dividend of democracy for all Deltans.
In his remarks, the 29 years old Obi (Engr.) Nduka Ezeagwuna expressed joy to the people of Issele-Uku, the Omo Noba Nedo, Uku Akpolokpolo, Oba Ewuare II, the Oba of Benin, for the opportunity given to him to undergo eye-opening orientation of his revered palace.
Obi Ezeagwuna explained that Issele-Uku Royal succession process bequeathed to them by his forefathers, was well defined as it takes a man of noble spirit to respect and abide by the process and also thanked the council, traditional organs of governance which indeference to the enactment of their forefathers.
Expectedly, the coronation ceremony witnessed capacity crowd of people from all walks of life including some of his lecturers at the University of Ibadan, where he graduated in Petroleum Engineering.
