Okorocha lauds Igbo women’s efforts in development

Governor Rochas Okorocha of Imo State has said that the Igbo women had continued to contribute immeasurably towards the efforts of their husbands in making the South East a centre of excellence in all fields of human endeavour.
Addressing thousands of women from all over South East geo-political zone, who gathered in Owerri, the state capital, for one day South East 2016 August meeting, Governor Okorocha stressed that it was against this background that he had continued to place a number of women into positions of authority.
The governor therefore advised them to sustain their efforts and also guard against acts capable of exposing their womanhood to public ridicule.
He said also that contributions of women had made Ndigbo unique people, adding that Nigeria would witnessed tremendous development when Ndigbo take their rightful position in the scheme of things.

He lauded Governor Okorocha for his giant strides in Imo State and enjoined the people of the state to continue to support him to enable his administration to accomplish more meaningful results.
In her welcome address, the leader of the delegation and wife of the Imo State Governor, Ugo Nneoma Nkechi Okorocha, explained that the gathering was put in place to enable the women to chart the way forward on issues effecting the women and the girl child in the Igbo nation.
This, she said, was in demonstration of love of the women for the emergence of a stronger and prosperous Igbo nation saying “we are here because as Igbo women, we have decided and have resolved to go back to the drawing board in appreciation of the fact that once the girl child is protected we shall all get in right and we must get it right”.
