It was an atmosphere of fun and tradition as women of Ohafia living in Umuahia, weekend launched their new uniform, Aka Inyom Ohafia (Hand of Ohafia woman) in Umuahia.
Under the auspices of Ohafia Improvement Union, women wing, Umuahia Branch, the women also used the occasion to honour deserving Abians with various awards, especially women with the “First Lady” award.
Speaking, the chairman of the occasion, Ojo Kalu of Amaekpu Ohafia, who is also a retired civil servant from the Federal ministry of Works described the occasion as meaning “we came to identify our women”, urging other communities’ women to emulate the Ohafia women.
He used the occasion to advise Nigeria women to shun bad behaviours and live decently up to expectation, so that the children will emulate them.
Earlier in her speech, the President General of Ohafia Improvement Union, women wing Elder Christiana Okoro said that the women has for a long time trying to come together and saw the uniform as a veritable chance to do that for unification.
She commended the previous administration over their efforts in, keeping the Ohafia women together and appealed to governments at different levels to afford women the opportunity in elective positions so as to move the society forward.
