Chances of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in the 2019 succeeding in the governorship election in Ogun State continues to suffer setback with Monday declaration of factional candidate, Senator Buruji Kashamu in Ijebu Igbo, Ogun State with critical stakeholders of the party in attendance.
Recall that the party National chairman, Prince Uche Secondus alongside members of the National Working Committee of PDP had last Friday in Abuja presented the governorship flag of the party to Hon. Oladipupo Adebutu.
Also on Sunday, the National Publicity Secretary, Kola Ologbondiyan declared Adebutu as the party’s authentic candidate for the March 2, 2019 polls while he described Buruji as an impostor who should be prosecuted for fraudulent printing of the party’s nomination form and criminal parading himself as the party’s candidate.
However, at yesterday’s declaration in Ijebu Igbo were in attendance notable chieftains such as serving PDP Senators, Sam Anyanwu (Imo East), Danjuma Lah (Kaduna South), Former PDP Deputy National Chairman, Shuaibu Oyedokun, former National Secretary, Prof Wale Oladipo and former Deputy Governor of Oyo State, Azeez Gbolarumi, among others.
A factional chairman of the party in the state, Adebayo Dayo presented the party’s flag to Buruji.
He said “Let anybody say whatever they want to say, Prince Buruji Kashamu has been elected as the governorship candidate of the PDP. His name has already been submitted to the INEC.
“We have never had it so good since the days of Awolowo. Buruji is our own Awolowo. He is the only man that can wrestle power from the ruling party
Buruji at the occasion said “my dear good people of Ogun State, I am your son, your servant and a true representative of the people. I am willing, ready and able to serve you. I urge you to elect me as your governor. Mine will be a people-oriented government,” he said.
