Ogun Govt to replace retired workers

Following the recent disengagement of not less than 66 nurses from the service of Ogun State Government, the government has assured of their immediate replacement.
The commissioner for health in the state, Dr. Babatunde Ipaye stated this during a send-off programme held in honour of the disengaged nurses in Abeokuta
While speaking on the impact of the number of the nurses that retired from the state hospital management board, the commissioner said the state government has begun moves to replace them.
He however pledged to ensure prompt payment of the gratuities of the nurses, saying that as the commissioner in charge of health sector, he would ensure that they are in due course.
His words: ” Nursing profession is a service to humanity, We will conduct a need analysis, look at the gap that has been created with their retirement and do the needful to ensure the gap does not affect service delivery,” Ipaye submitted.
No fewer than 66 nurses have retired from the service of he state Hospital Management Board
after serving the state for about 35 years.
The retired nurses cut across the health facilities across the state which include Ijebu-Ode, Abeokuta, Ota, Remo and Ilaro health zones .
The director of nursing services and Hospital Management Board, Patience Odutayo said 66 nurses retired in this year alone, but, 10 out of them have either withdrawn or resigned.
She said, the hospital management board did not record any death among the nurses this year.
Some of the retirees who spoke with newsmen at the ceremony appealed to the government to ensure prompt payment of their gratuities.
