Ogun State Government has approved the construction of power generation plants by 12 Independent Power Providers (IPPs) to boost power generation in the State.
The Special Adviser to the Governor on Energy, Mr. Taiwo Fagbemi said the project was approved by the present administration in its plans to ensure uninterrupted power supply, saying the “12 power companies were selected to provide and generate a total of 336 mega watts within 18 months of commencement that will cut across the three Senatorial Districts of the State.”
He revealed that the selected IPPs had completed their Power Purchase Agreements (PPA) Waste Concession Agreements (WCA) and the Memorandum Of Understanding (MOU), explaining that these documents had been duly vetted by the Ministry of Justice.
The project, according to him, would be fueled by natural gas, solar, waste to energy (WTE), hydro and Joule-Box which would ensure its sustainability.
