Ogun Elders Read Riot Acts to Politician Ahead of Polls 

Barely 24 hours to the Gubernatorial and State Assembly elections, the Ogun State Elders’ Consultative Forum has appealed to the people of the state, especially politicians and the youths not to take laws into their own hands.

The Elders, while addressing the press at Iwe Iroyin, Oke Ilewo, Abeokuta, on Thursday, urged the people to allow political tolerance and politics without bitterness to reign supreme.

Speaking on behalf of the Elders, the Co-ordinator of the group, Aremo Taiwo Allimi, also appealed to Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC), the media and all the security agencies to discharge their duties according to the rules.

Said he: “The Ogun State Elders forum implores all political parties and their supporters to maintain peace, at all costs, before, during and after the elections of April 11, 2015. Ogun State is a peaceful and the elders’ forum pleads that it be kept peaceful.”

“The media must serve the interest of the society and influence the conduct of public affairs. Radio and television stations must pursue accuracy and rely on INEC.”
