Ogun community distributes food items to residents

The Ona-Ara Community Development Area (CDA) in Kajola, Ogun dtate on Sunday, distributed foodstuffs to no fewer than 80 residents of the community to cushion the effects of the lockdown, occasioned by the coronavirus pandemic.

Ona Ara community under Orilonise Community Development Council (CDC) distributed the food items to the residents.

Mr Hammad Yekini, the chairman of Ona Ara CDA, said that the gesture was borne out of the desire to assist and help the community over the lockdown.

Yekini said that the food items, which were the community’s widow’s mite, would provide succour for the residents who could not go out as a result of the lockdown order.

“We took the decision to give back to our CDA since people no longer go out to get their daily needs. Although it was so little, we believe it will help our people for a while,” he said.

Some of the beneficiaries of the food items expressed joy and applauded the CDA’s kind gestures, saying it was a welcome development.

They appealed to government to respond to the yearnings of the masses, as they were in dire need of food and other items to survive the period of the lockdown.
