Ogun 2017 budget is realistic -Assembly Speaker

The Speaker of the Ogun State House of Assembly, Hon. Suraju Ishola Adekunbi, has expressed confidence in the realization of the objective of the state’s 2017 fiscal budget, “the Budget of Repositioning”, which was presented to the assembly by the Governor, Senator Ibikunle Amosun on Thursday. The Speaker said the budget would achieve the success of the rebuilding mission of the state government.

Adekunbi expressed the hope while fielding questions from journalists after the budget presentation by the governor at the Assembly Complex, Oke-Mosan, Abeokuta. He said that a review of the 2016 budget has revealed 56.2 % performance implemented as at October which would be improved upon with the cooperation of all stakeholders. The Speaker assured that the government would continue to partner with relevant stakeholders, Non-Governmental Organizations and donor agencies for support towards actualizing more infrastructural development in the State.

He promised that the Assembly would strive within its constitutional powers to ensure the speedy passage of the appropriation bill to further reposition the State to immediately prepare ground for the delivery of more democratic dividend to the people.

While calling for the support of all and sundry in the actualization of the proposed budget, Adekunbi promised that the current legislature would put in place necessary resolution to enable the State government begin the arrangement for the inclusion of the gateway State to be among the oil producing states with a view to earning more revenue to finance all its projects.
