Official: Setien Sacked, Koeman Tipped To Become New Manager

Barcelona has sacked Quique Setien, 25 games and a historical low after his appointment as manager.
Setien’s reign reached its nadir when Bayern Munich destroyed Barcelona 8-2 in the quarterfinal of the Champions League in Friday.

Rapid changes have been called for in Barcelona, with Setien being the first man to get the chop in what has been tagged a restructuring at the Camp Nou.
Ronald Koeman, a former club captain and legend, has been tipped to take over the reins on the Barcelona bench.
Koeman, who is currently handling the Netherlands, represented Barcelona between 1989-1995, scoring a huge 106 goals as a defender during his time at the club.
The former Southampton, Everton and PSV Eindhoven manager has been pencilled as the man to lead the Barcelona restructuring.
“This is the first decision within a wider restructuring of the first team,” Barcelona said on dismissing the 61-year old former Real Betis manager.
Defender Gerard Pique said he would be the “first to leave” if the club wished to make changes.
La Blaugrana faithful has been displeased with the quality of football played by Barcelona, with the club having to often depend on mercurial skipper Lionel Messi to bring the goods.
There had been calls for Setien’s head after Barcelona relinquished an 8-point lead to lose the league title to Real Madrid.
The 8-2 demolition by Bayern condemned the Spanish side to their first season without a trophy in 12 years.
My analyses
I think it is a fantastic decision taken by the club. As a manager of a club like Barcelona, you have little space for errors. An 8-2 defeat in the champions league is unacceptable and deserves such a reaction.
I have always held the opinion that Barca is too big for Quique, and that was confirmed by the news that came out before his sack that he lost the dressing room and some players wanted him out.
Beyond results, Barca played very low-quality football under Setien and was very vulnerable. As Pique said, a lot has to change and that change has started to happen. We shall hear more in the coming days.
