Obiozor Dumps Kano Pillars

Christian Obiozor has walked out of Nigerian champions Kano Pillars, an official of the club has informed supersport.com.

Idris Malikawa, spokesman of Kano Pillars, revealed that the striker, who joined from Enugu Rangers, left the camp of the Kano club without the consent of officials.

Malikawa could not explain the rationale behind Obiozor’s shock exit from the club despite agreeing to a one-year contract with the Pillars.

“Christian Obiozor just left Kano without informing anyone of his departure,” claimed Malikawa just before he travelled with the Pillars for Morocco on Tuesday midnight to face Moghreb Tetouan in the CAF Champions League.

“When the chairman of the CAF Champions League Committee for Kano Pillars, Alhaji Ibrahim Galadima, spoke with him days back he assured he will return back to Kano, but he later sent a message to one of the board members that he is not returning to Kano without explanation.

“If Obiozor has an issue with the club, he should have just spoken to us as we are ready to listen to any complaint from our players on any issues bothering them,” said Malikawa.

The shock departure of Obiozor from Kano Pillars have now left them threadbare attacking-wise for the game at Moghreb Tetouan as Gambo Muhammed is still out injured from the armed robbery attack on the club earlier this month.

The Kano Pillars spokesman also claimed that the club have travelled with one man short since Obiozor was among their plans for the CAF Champions League match in Morocco.

“We included him in the squad and got visa for him like the other players for the trip to Morocco. Unfortunately we will travel with one man short now,” lamented Malikawa.

Obiozor had hit the ground running at Kano Pillars, scoring five goals in his first seven appearances for the Nigerian champions. His form immediately cemented a first-team place for him ahead of the club’s top scorer last season, Adamu Hassan
