Obiano presents certificates of recognition to new monarchs, cautions impersonators

Anambra State Governor, Chief Willie Obiano, has cautioned miscreants against parading themselves as Traditional Rulers without authority, adding that when apprehended, such will be made to face the full wrath of the law.

Governor Obiano said this while presenting Certificate of Recognition to three recently installed Traditional Rulers in the state.

They are Igwe Marcel Nwankwo Okoli of Akpu Community, Orumba South Local Government Area, Igwe Fedrick Chigozie Okoli of Ndiokpaleze, Orumba North Local Government Area, and Igwe Nduka Emmanuel Mbanefo of Amiyi, Ogbaru Local Government Area.

Presenting the certificates at Governor’s Lodge, Amawbia, Governor Obiano emphasised that traditional institution had been an aged-long sacred order that require respect.

The governor expressed displeasure at some individuals who have lost their sense of dignity for the institution, by illegally parading themselves as traditional rulers, causing confusion and disorder in the state.

Government is the only authorised institution that recognises natural rulers. Government is the only authorised institution to give or withdraw certificates.
We will not tolerate such again. Those people should desist from such acts or be brought to book,’’ Obiano said.

He urged the newly installed traditional rulers to use their positions to ensure peace and unity for the development of their communities.
